DIY Fail. We’ve all had them, and I for sure have had a ton of them! We all see those gorgeous perfect DIY Pinterest photos and like me, I’m sure we all think…oh how easy and then laugh really hard when it turns out to be a complete disaster. But it makes for good laughs anyways!

One of the DIY fails we had was choosing the paint color for our dinning room. It was a meltdown. I wanted a fun blue. I found this paint color off…of course…Pinterest. However, the second we started painting all I could think of was Smurf. I thought maybe it would grow on me so we kept going…

We still weren’t 100% sure if we loved it, so we tried the white painted borders around the wainscoting. But after completing one, we decided we hated that too.
And being I could not get smurf out of my head, I said it needed to be darker. So we re-painted the entire room with Deep Royal by Benjamin Moore from Hirshfield’s. And loved it!
I still go back and forth on if I like the white on the bottom half. Most times I wish I would have painted the entire room the deep navy. But I couldn’t handle any more fails in this room, or maybe Jamie couldn’t handle my indecisiveness. 🙂 I thought it would make the room look way too dark with the black furniture if we painted all the walls. But every time I see those all deep navy rooms on Pinterest, I’m obsessed. So maybe…I just need to get new furniture. hehe.
