Design Inspiration within Our Process

Spread the love.

It feels like we’ve been creating a ton of design mood boards recently and we wanted to share with you guys how much fun we’re having, along with our design inspiration process in all of our renovations. I honestly don’t know what’s more fun, dreaming with our clients or getting to work and watching everything we’ve planned so hard for come together.

We have a couple bathroom renovations coming up in July, as well as a full kitchen remodel this fall that we’re already planning for and we can’t wait to get our hands dirty!

It’s so fun to put together style boards for our clients. When working with our clients our process is Dream, Plan, Do.

Table of Contents

Dream

We always initially meet in person with our clients to dream with them in their space. We want to collaborate with our clients, and we want them to share with us their dream space to help pull together a complete vision.

A majority of the time, after the initial consultation, we will meet with our clients at certain design stores to really dig in and look at finishing selections to know the exact style that they love or hate. Once we have a taste for our client’s style, we put together mood boards, at no extra cost. Much to our client’s surprise, the design portion of the project can be as long, if not longer, than the actual coming in and doing the renovation! When people contact us for a renovation job, I always urge them to contact us sooner than later so we can start planning and not feel rushed.

Think about it this way, people plan for their weddings, which is ONE day, a year in advance. When it comes to the room you are going to spend every single day in, there is no time that is too soon to start planning.

We get a lot of our design inspiration from our lovely friends at JKath. They’re builders in the Twin Cities, and seriously you guys, their work is to die for. Anytime I’m in a funk and looking to be inspired, I instantly go to their Instagram account to be revived!

Plan

After mood boards and dreaming up ideas with our clients, we get to the nitty gritty of picking out the top finishing selections that they want in their renovation.

Bathroom Design Inspo

We complete a full detailed finishing selections list to ensure measurements, amount of materials, and costs are all in order so there are no surprises for our clients during their renovation experience. Before we get to work, a full detailed project execution summary is mapped out with timeline, hours, selections, and project management to stay on budget and on time.

Plan

Do

Then the fun begins! Last step is getting to work! We have a team of plumbers and electricians that we bring onto our projects, but other than that, it’s just the two of us. So needless to say, we become good friends by the end of your project. We’re in and out of your home all day long everyday for a period of time, depending on the complexity of the project.

But seriously, when people ask me what our biggest accomplishment is for our business, I can say with total confidence that we have never finished a job and a friendship didn’t result from it. And that’s pretty awesome!!
