Homemade Christmas

Spread the love.

Pallet_HeadboardFor Christmas 2012 Jamie and I decided that we were going to make gifts for each other instead of buying them. For my gift, Jamie searched my Pinterest boards and noticed how much I love pallets. He ended up making me a pallet headboard and a pallet holder in which I decided to use for a flower holder. When I first opened the gifts I wasn’t even quite sure what they were. I yelled, “Oh I love this!!” And his brother said, “Do you even know what it is?” I said, “No…” – haha! But I knew whatever it was it was going to be awesome, and it was!!

Quilt

For Jamie’s gift I decided I would try to tackle my first quilt. With a ton of my aunt’s help, I was able to complete the task. As you can see, I had to start small, so I decided to just make long strips instead of tiny squares. Jamie’s favorite sport is motocross, so I tried to find fabric that would relate to that. I found the perfect fabric for the border and then found colors to match with that fabric. I also found a black and white checkered pattern that I used for the entire back. I then embroidered his last name and his racing number in the corners using my mom’s sewing machine. It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun!

The picture below was at Thanksgiving – my niece Melrose helping Auntie Morgan make Jamie’s quilt! I can’t believe she is already 2!
