Spread the love.

Last week, we wrapped up a styling project in North Oaks! Our clients follow us on Instagram and were looking for some ideas to freshen up the fireplace area in their living room. When we went to the first meeting, we knew these were the clients for us! Super nice and had such great style. This was a fun one, but first, let’s rewind to the befores…

Before

Our clients were looking to add storage by the fireplace for their record player and records, as well as some sort of additional seating for the space.

The area by the window was the perfect spot for some additional seating, we just had to figure out if it would be a built-in bench or more of a furniture piece.

Inspiration

At the beginning of the design project, the plan was to update the tile around the fireplace. As the project moved along, our client decided to hold off on that portion and refresh the space first. Our inspiration were cozy spaces that had bench seating, wood accents, and storage.

Designs

We had a couple different iterations of the design before we came to the exact look we went with. At first, the plan was to install new tile around the fireplace and have built-in benches with storage on either side with floating shelves and artwork above them.

Then we moved into a different tile option, floating shelves on both sides of the fireplace, and benches with hidden storage.

And now, here is the final design in the space!

After

After going back and forth on some various options for storage on the left side of the fireplace, our client found this amazing storage piece from LuLu & Georgia. Then we found the grey bench with wood tones that matched the storage piece on Wayfair. Next up, came the styling pieces.

After looking at a couple of different mirrors, the plan was to go large and tall with the mirror to truly make it the focal point of the room. We scored this gold vintage mirror from Goodwill for $40! It’s the perfect shape for this fireplace and draws attention to the tall ceilings in this room.

Adding in some greenery in a taller white vase on the left side of the mirror brought additional height to the fireplace. Mixing in some greenery and touches of gold tied the decor pieces together as well.

Above the bench, we added two abstract prints framed in a pretty wood tone to add some visual interest in this little nook. Next up came pillows to that made this bench seat inviting and cozy.

On the left side, we styled the storage piece with decor our client already had, along with some new items. This will be the spot for their record player and records, so we wanted to keep that space in mind as well. Some gold pieces, books, and a clock rounded out this shelving area and tied into the rest of the room.
