It’s amazing how new countertops, backsplash, sink, faucet, and lighting can do so much for your kitchen, without even changing the layout or cabinetry. For this project, our client wanted to keep her cabinetry and layout, but still wanted a new and fresh look in her kitchen.
With this kitchen refresh, our client was looking to brighten up her kitchen and create an appliance garage where she could hide away countertop appliances, while still being able to plug them in and use them daily. She also wanted to updated the lighting in the kitchen and create more of a nook area instead of a dining room table that sat in the corner of her kitchen. In addition, she was looking for new countertops and backsplash to bring some new life into her kitchen and make it more of her own style. To save on remodel costs, our client wanted to keep her original cabinets, but paint the space and new appliance garage a classic white to brighten up the room.
In the end, our solution was to take out the existing cabinetry on the fridge wall and replace it with custom cabinets, painted in a classic white with floating shelving. This area became the appliance garage, complete with a countertop that runs under the upper cabinets to provide a spot to store appliances, while they are hidden away. Including an outlet in the appliance garage allows our client to use her appliances, but also have them out of sight. Although the cabinetry remained the same, the floating shelves, new handmade backsplash, and lighter countertops all make the kitchen feel brighter and reflect our client’s style. Replacing the light fixture over the island and over the sink provide more lighting and also add some style to the space. In the corner, taking out the dining table and bringing in a corner bench seat and antique ottoman make it truly a statement in the room. We love how this kitchen and nook refresh turned out!
