This wonderful client came to us through Facebook wanting a bathroom refresh but wasn’t sure where to start. They invited us over to their home, we checked out the space, they told us what they loved and hated and left the rest up to us. The Moroccan Fish Scale tile that has been buzzing was a tile the client said they loved as well as subway and basically any other tile I threw their way. So…being they loved absoloutely everything we recommended and were leaving the entire design up to us, we were in for a challenge.
Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love it when clients leave the design planning up to us and love everything we love. But…it is also always a little nerve racking that once it’s all said and done that they’re going to be like, meh. That’s never happened but it’s still a fear of mine. haha!
I love, love the fish scale tile, and I had been dying to use it in a remodel, so when this client was up for it I knew we had to jump at the chance. However, we had also never installed handmade tile and a tile design of this shape. So we were also in for our first time challenge of new installations.
Which we love…bring on the challenges! Challenges in our book mean for an opportunity to grow!!
Mercury Mosaics supplied the fish scale tile for us and luckily, they had a full blown installation guide. We did our research and even did a test run at home before we made the leap to install at our client’s home. And let me tell you- it was a piece of cake! We have a tutorial coming out soon that we’ll link up.
For the design planning I went tile shopping with our clients to get a taste of their style. I then put together mood boards and finishing selections charts with a few different tile options. They loved them all, so I narrowed it down to what I would do if it were my room and came up with:
Floor Tile: Faux Wood Looking Tile | The Tile Shop
Wall Color: Revere Pewter | Benjamin Moore
