6 Simple Bathroom Updates

Bathroom are a space that get used on the daily and if you’re in a spot where you hate walking into your bathroom, this tutorial is for you. We believe that bathrooms don’t need to be boring and that they should be a place where you can relax and show off your personality. Here are some of our simple tips on how you can update your bathroom:

1. Updated Shower Curtain and Towels

One of the simplest ways you can refresh your bathroom is just by switching out the shower curtain and towels. The first thing you eye is drawn to in the bathroom is the shower curtain and if it’s one that you hate, you won’t love walking into your bathroom. Look for a simple white curtain if you’re wanting your bathroom to feel fresh and airy. If you want to make more of a statement, look for a bolder shower curtain that packs a punch. In addition to updating your shower curtain, replace your towels to ones that show off your personality. Plush, fun towels are a quick and simple way to bring in a pop of color and your design style into your bathroom. When styling this modern wet-room feel bathroom, we used towels to bring in accent colors and add fun pops of color to the otherwise white and black room.

2. Paneling or Wood Plank Wall

A wood or paneled wall is a great statement piece and looks great behind a freestanding tub. For this condo bathroom, we wanted an accent wall that would bring in some wood tones to tie into the vanity and provide visual interest behind the freestanding tub. Paneling is a great option for adding a wow-factor to your bathroom, because it’s typically not super expensive and easy to DIY. In addition, wood paneling brings in a natural element and allows the tub to really shine in its own little area.

3. Fresh Paint or Wallpaper

A fresh coat of paint or installing wallpaper is a simple and inexpensive way to make your bathroom look brand new. When we added a bathroom to our basement, we wanted to go with a bold paint color in order to make a statement and compliment the floral wallpaper we chose. A fresh coat of paint goes a long way in a smaller space and with powder bathrooms, we encourage our clients to step out of the box and add color through a paint color they love or a fun wallpaper option. Since it’s a smaller space and you’re not typically getting ready in a half-bath, it’s a great way to show off your personality and surprise guests with a unique design through paint and wallpaper.

Everything feels better when your home is clean. The bathroom is one of those rooms in your home that gets used most often. From kids and guests, to get ready for the day and brushing your teeth before bed, the bathroom is used on the daily. So go get some grout cleaner and get down to business. Cleaning the grout in your bathroom will make your shower feel ten times better and brighter, especially when you have white subway tile like in this transitional white and gray bathroom. You’ll want to do a deep clean of the grout to make those tiles really shine. Use an old toothbrush and mix together some vinegar and baking soda for a grout-cleaning solution. Grab your favorite cleaner and scrub those floors, countertops, and sinks. It’s amazing how much a little bit of cleaning can do for your bathroom.

5. Update Fixtures

One of the ways that you can instantly make your bathroom feel more like a space is to replace your existing shower head. Look for a shower head that has settings where you can change the pressure or a larger head for more of a rain-head feel. If you’re wanting a bigger change, ask your plumber about installing a rain shower head from the ceiling for a real spa-like feel. In this spa-like master bathroom remodel, we installed a large rain head, along with a larger main shower head for multiple water source options.
