DeRusha Kitchen Refresh | Maple Grove, MN

This was such a fun project to design + build and a great family to work with! One of the things this family wanted to do was support local businesses!  Many of the finishing selections were Minnesota made products, which we love!

Material Selections:

Countertop: Cambria, which is Skara Brae

Cabinetry:  Nic Frost cabinetry

Lighting over table: Hennepin Made

Custom designed backsplash: Mercury Mosaics

the challenge

This project started with our clients just wanting to replace the sink, then moved into their desk area, and eventually doing a whole kitchen refresh! So many kitchens we walk into have this same cabinet color, with a desk area that just gets used as a place to collect junk, and outdated materials. The challenge was refreshing this kitchen to make it look like a brand new space, but not completely gutting and remodeling it all. By the desk area, the clients were wanting something fresh to make a statement and use the space more functionally. We suggested an bar area, complete with floating shelves and a TV. For the perimeter of the kitchen, we suggested new cabinet doors and repainting the existing boxes to make the cabinets look new.

our solution

In the end, this kitchen refresh truly made the kitchen look brand new. Our clients loved how it all turned out and it has become the show-stopper they were looking for. We love Mercury Mosaics tile and the custom backsplash for the perimeter and bar area was the perfect solution for a unique and fun statement piece. Skara Brae by Cambria compliments the black cabinetry and floating shelves that Nic Frost Cabinetry made and the slab that was installed is absolutely stunning. The new doors and fresh paint on the cabinets brings the whole kitchen together and the black hardware ties into the black bar cabinets and Hennepin Made light fixture over the dining table. Finally, a new pantry door truly finishes off the space and this kitchen refresh turned into one beautiful before and after!
