DIY Halloween Tablescape

If you’re anything like us, you love decorating for any and every holiday. Morgan recently hosted a DIY sushi birthday party with a Halloween theme and it was so fun! We wanted to share how you can create your own Halloween tablescape for your next party or event.

Here are the steps for transforming your every day table into a Halloween showstopper:

Step One: Gather Decor

First, we went to the dollar store and picked up a couple of pumpkins. Then, we headed to Joann Fabrics, one of our favorite place for seasonal decor. There, we got white cheese cloth fabric, gauzy black fabric, candlesticks, and more pumpkins.

Step Two: Spray Paint Pumpkins

Since the plan was to incorporate color and not just the typical orange and black, we needed some spray paint. Thanks to Krylon, we were covered! Here were the colors we used:

  • Hot Pink
  • Icy Grape
  • Jungle Green
  • Popsicle Orange

To make sure that there was a mix of colors and shapes on the table, we divided up the pumpkins into groups. After they were in clusters, we got to spraying them!

Step Three: Add Butcher Block Paper

For a quick, easy, and cheap tablecloth, take some butcher block paper and lay it out on your table. This also makes for easy clean up because you can roll it all up once the party is over.

Step Four: Write Place Cards

A fun way to add some personality to your party is to write out your guests names as place cards. We just used brown cardstock and a sharpie to make these cute name tags we added to the table.

Step Five: Set the Table

For the the table, using gold chargers under the plates adds a touch of shine. On top of those, placing white plates for eating makes the table bright and light. Contrasting the plates with gauzy black fabric and white cheese cloth adds a spooky element.

Mixing up the napkins brings in some pattern and texture to the table as well. Then, we took wooden napkin holders to make them a fun shape and added to the plates with the name tag.

The variety fo colors, shapes, and textures of pumpkins makes for a long and colorful centerpiece. We combined the pumpkins with black candlesticks and white candles.

Gold silverware and green glasses completed the look.
