A few weekends back we spent the entire weekend at the Rivercenter in St. Paul for the annual American Craft Council show.
We were one of four designers that got asked to be a part of the fun, each of us creating a space of inspiration while utilizing goods from the makers at the show. We had never built a booth before or been involved with any show like this, so it was a whole new learning experience for us. But for the most part, it was pretty seamless, and we’re hoping they invite us back again next year.

What is American Craft Council?
We had to pull in a handful of products from the show floor and then we could bring in any other brands that we loved as well. We wanted to create a space that was something we focused on at construction2style, so we decided to create a bathroom. It was pretty cool because they told us that no one had done a bathroom space in the past. The other three designers all did living rooms, which were all super cool too. Not sure what we were thinking doing a bathroom because that tile wall was not light to haul in. Ha!
We rounded up all of our favorite brands, and we knew with this group, we were in good hands. We absolutely loved how it all turned out.
They kicked off the event Thursday with an exclusive preview party. It was super classy, and they had a ton of delicious food and drinks.
The show floor was then open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We weren’t ever required to be there but could if we wanted to get our name out there a little more. We hung out at the booth Friday and Saturday for a little while and had a blast meeting new people and seeing old friends.
The highlight of the weekend was hanging with Ali Shops Saturday afternoon while fashion designers took over our booth. We talked fashion from interiors to clothing and how it all relates to one another. I come from a fashion merchandising background, so it all made me so happy to chat about my two favorite topics.
We also got the opportunity to be featured in the American Craft magazine, go live on Fox 9 news, and be in the Star Tribune during the show.
