What To Do With Your Animals During Construction
One thing that not many people think about before construction…what to do with those furry friends of yours while we are working in your space!
To keep everyone safe and cared for, here’s a few best practices:
Leashed Introductions
Do a formal, leashed introduction with your animals to contractors. By doing this, it introduces your animals to the workers and the workers to your animals. That way, there is no “stranger danger” situation!
Keep Your Animals In A Safe Environment
After the introduction, be sure to keep your animals contained in a safe environment while the team is working. This ensures that they aren’t in the construction zone or accidentally sneak out of the house while we may have doors propped open during certain phases.
If we’re renovating in a space where your animals cannot be contained at all times, we ask that they’re leashed with the homeowner while we are in the home. Sometimes the noises are loud and can scare animals, and we don’t want anything bad to happen.
Keep Your Contractor Informed
If you need to walk through the construction zone to take animals out of the house for any reason, we just ask that you give us a forewarning so we can clear a path/get out of your way.
Let us know about your animals prior to starting construction so we can be aware of our surroundings as well.
And that’s it on having an animal in a construction zone! As a dog/cat owner myself, I always want to be sure my furry friends are safe and out of the way for any workers that come into our space. This also ensures comfortability levels are met with the contractors because who even knows if they’re animal people! Even if they’re barking their heads off most of the time, I’d rather have them do that than jump all over people who don’t like animals.
Next up…who votes we need dog bandanas in our c2s shop?!
