Well, it’s official!Beckam is now crawling out of his crib and also wants nothing to do with his diapers. He takes them off every chance he gets, which means it’s probably potty training time.
Not to mention, little brother wants to do everything his big brother, Greyson, does. Good thing it’s summer because Greyson has even been teaching him how to pee on the hostas to “help mommy keep the deer off of them.” Ha!
Beckam wants nothing to do with his little kid potty either, because well, “bra-bra” goes on the big potty.
So we’re really excited to partner with Mayfair’s® new Little2Big™ Built-In Potty Seat™.
Most importantly, mom and dad are even more excited to be able to just flush the not-so-cute- anymore diaper poops right down the toilet. Especially because we can just flush it down the toilet, instead of cleaning out a separate potty chair, like we did with Greyson, which is worse than changing diapers.
Both of our littles loooove being involved with anything we’re working on whether it’s in our homes, clients, or in our workshop.
We recently remodeled our guest bathroom and now the only shower they want to shower in is in the newly remodeled bathroom. Because in their minds, they helped renovate it too and are very proud! I guess the boys did demo out the bathroom vanity within this space after all.
So we knew when we got Beckam’s “big boy” toilet seat that the first step would be to have Beckam help install it alongside daddy.
Fingers crossed this will make for an easier potty training experience! And we were right because this morning he took his poopy diaper off without us knowing and was climbing on top of his new toilet seat. Guess the next step will be teaching him that he needs to get on the toilet first before pooping. Ha! Well, at least he’s trying…
Since the boys love to only use the guest bathroom because they helped remodel it, we installed the potty seat in this same bath. We were a little hesitant on installing it in this bath, since this is our guest bathroom (not the boys’ main bath). But, we also knew it would make for an easier transition, since it is the bathroom they always use and one that is on the main level.
Luckily, a cool feature with Little2Big seat is that with the flip of the lid, it’s for adults or kids. And it’s not one that you have to touch and remove, put on the floor, and then place back on again. So when you lift up the toilet seat, the kids one goes with it.
Another one of our favorite things about this seat is the slow close. When we were remodeling our bathroom, one of Greyson’s requests was if we could incorporate a slowclose lid. Jamie and I both laughed so hard realizing that he now is in tune to little details, just like we are.
Guess we’re rubbing off on our boys even at the age of four and two. So we, as well as our boys, were excited to know that the Little2Big also came with the Whisper∙Close®, which is a no-slam design that actually provides safety by eliminating pinched fingers and slamming.
The seat also came in either round or elongated to ensure it would fit whatever size toilet seat you currently have. Our is elongated and it fit perfectly.
Jamie and Beckam had it installed in 10 minutes. The only two tools we needed was a wrench and a screwdriver. Otherwise the seat came with the rest of the materials, as well as some awesome instructions that walked us through step by step.
It was as easy as taking the bolts off that held the other seat on, and then putting on the new seat and securing it with new bolts.
So now that the toilet seat is installed the hard work begins, getting our baby potty trained!
If you guys have any potty training tips, we’ll take all the advice we can get!
