Decorative throw pillows are one of the easiest ways to change up the decor in your space. And one of the most fun things to shop for. When shopping for decorative pillows, cost can quickly add up being you typically don’t just want 1 or 2 but 3 to 5. So today we are sharing with you where we have purchased some of our favorite pillows and where you can find some of the best for under $30.

Styling tips when it comes to pillow decor:

1. Don’t use the pillows that came with the couch
2. Don’t be afraid to mix colors, fabrics, textures
3. Use different sizes
4. Mix patterns and solids
5. Don’t try match
6. Change up your pillows with the seasons
7. Consider using inserts

Target

Have you seen the new visual home displays Target is now putting into their stores? Being a former in-store display merchandiser, I appreciate everything Target is doing and it kinda makes me miss it. They are killing it once again. Pier 1

Our sister Britta recently purchased some new adorable throw pillows from Pier 1 for her living room decor and I couldn’t help but want to run straight there to buy the same!

We were on the hunt for some wintery pillows to warm up our space a bit being all of our pillows within our living room decor were blue, cool, and summery tones.

Pier 1 has such a large assortment of throw pillows it is hard to not pick out at least 10. Choosing a display of throw pillows can be overwhelming.  But Pier 1 does a great job laying out their visual displays to help you with styling your home. Even though they have such a wide variety of throw pillows they display the pillows with the perfect style, merchandise, and accents.

Overstock

Overstock is another great option for purchasing throw pillows. They carry a wide assortment of design styles. I especially love their bold and modern style throw pillows. Shopping in- store for pillows can typically be easier due to the visual displays to help narrow down your selections. Cost Plus World Market

Cost Plus is another one of my favorite home shopping stores. Have you shopped at Cost Plus before? It’s pretty amazing. Cost Plus is a chain store that carries an eclectic array of housewares, furniture, decor & specialty food items. The first time I stepped foot in the store I think I browsed for hours with my mouth wide open. It is also the perfect place buy gifts, you can find something for anyone.

Pottery Barn

Pottery Barn is another one of my favorites. I got this anchor pillow for Greyson’s nursery for $29. It was the perfect little accent for his rocking chair. Pottery Barn always has the best season pillows. I also have a couple red, white and blue flagged pillows that I use year round, and not just for the 4th of July.

Marshalls

I have always been drawn to blue and grey tones. There is no other color to easily work with it’s warm and cool tones. We picked these pillows up from Marshalls for under $10 each. Marshalls is always hit and miss for me. But I can always find something home related that I love without leaving the store. They typically don’t have a huge selection of pillows, but just enough to possibly find a good 1 or 2 for a good deal. All of the blue pillows we bought also have a different design on the back side- extra bonus. We can easily flip them over for a whole new look. 

Wayfair

Another alternative for throw pillows is to buy inserts and DIY some inexpensive covers to alternate throughout the seasons. Wayfair carries down inserts for as low as $12. They carry a variety of sizes made with down fill. A feather or down pillow has more squish and comfort and can also be the priciest. Therefore most choose a foam or synthetic fill that aren’t as comfortable but hold their fill. But with Wayfair, you have a ton of options and can get them for half the cost. Home Goods

Pillows don’t need to match the sofa, paint color, or your decor but they should relate to the pallet and style. For our bedroom decor I wanted two matching big and comfy classic yet elegant pillows that I could use for awhile. We chose these pillows from Home Goods. Home Goods has a ton of timeless pillows that you can hold onto for awhile and all for good price points.

Cb2 offers modern and limited edition looks in all home decor. Their pillows are perfect for layering or even as a single statement piece for a chair. West Elm

West Elm is one of my absolute favorite stores in the world. Their throw pillows are typically a little more expensive. However, you can always find a real bargain within their clearance sections. You can also score these pillows for $29. I am in love with these colors and textures that they are currently carrying. They are hand loomed by skilled craftspeople with should be worth a lot more than $29.
