Four Holiday-Themed Projects for a Festive Atmosphere at Home

Four Holiday-Themed Projects for a Festive Atmosphere at Home 1

Spread the love.

The holidays are closing in fast! But don’t worry, there is still plenty of time to add some creative and festive decor to your home.

This time of the year is the perfect time to get in touch with your inner DIYer. There are an infinite amount of holiday-themed projects you can do to spruce up your home before the holidays officially roll around.

Today we’re going to talk about four of our favorites that you can easily do in 60 minutes or less!

Sweater Stockings

Two of the best things about the holidays, comfy sweaters for those brisk evenings and stockings for Santa’s gifts, are combined into one for this simple DIY project.

What you’ll need: Four Holiday-Themed Projects for a Festive Atmosphere at Home 2

-An old sweater

-Cardboard outline of a stocking

-Sewing machine

-Pins

-Scissors

To create your sweater stocking, take your old sweater and turn it inside out. Using a fabric marker, trace the outline of your cardboard stocking onto your sweater. The top of your cutout should line up with the bottom of your sweater, with the foot facing toward the neck of the sweater.

Once you’ve traced the pattern, place pins on the outline to keep the fabric in place and use a sewing machine to sew the sweater into a stocking shape, leave the bottom of the sweater (the top of your stocking) open.

Once finished, cut the stocking out (be mindful of not cutting into your sewing line) and turn it inside out! And voila! You have your very own sweater stocking.

Mason Jar Snow Globe

The mason jar snow globe is an enjoyable project to do with your kids, especially if they have toys that they don’t play with anymore. Repurpose those old, dusty toys into these adorable mason jar snow globes!

What you’ll need: Four Holiday-Themed Projects for a Festive Atmosphere at Home 3

-Waterproof craft glue

-Glitter

-Glycerin (vegetable glycerin will work)

-Figurines/toys

-Mason jar

Flip the lid of your mason jar upside down and arrange the toys/figurines wherever you want (the bigger the jar, the more toys/items you can place inside). Once you find the right spot, glue them down using waterproof craft glue.

Next, take the jar and pour 1-2 tablespoons of glitter into it. If you have a bigger jar than the one in the picture, then you can add more glitter, but it’s really up to you!

Fill up your jar about ⅘ of the way full and add a tablespoon of glycerin.

Use the glue on both the inside of the lid and on the outside of the jar rim where the lid will attach.

Then, twist the lid and let it sit for 10 minutes while the glue dries.

Finally, give it a shake and test it out!

Music Sheet Christmas Tree

The simplest of the four projects, you can create a cute music sheet Christmas tree no matter your DIY skill level.

What you’ll need: Four Holiday-Themed Projects for a Festive Atmosphere at Home 4

-Old sheet music

-Dowel craft sticks

-A base (such as wood slices)

-A star of your choice

-Hole punch

You can knock one of these trees out in five minutes or less. Simply take your old sheet music and cut it into a triangle.

Next, fold it 6-7 times, as shown in the picture.

Use a hole punch on each one of the sections, keeping them all in as straight of a line as you can.

Slide your craft sticks through the holes, and glue the bottom of the stick to your wood slices/whatever base you chose. Finally, add your star, and you’re all done. It’s that simple!

This holiday DIY decor is perfect for the music-loving family.

Log Snowman

We recommend not taking on this project unless you have experience in working with electric saws. However, you know that we love working with wood here at construction2style, so we had to include this one in our list of holiday-themed projects.

What you’ll need:Four Holiday-Themed Projects for a Festive Atmosphere at Home 5

-Small logs (at least 2 different sizes in width)

-Chop saw (or any electrical saw that you are comfortable working with)

-Sticks

-Woodburner (or other materials for snowman details)

-A strong glue

Use your saw to cut three slices of your small log. If you want varying sizes for each part of your snowman, then use different size logs.

With each of your slices, cut little pieces off of the top and bottom to get rid of the round edge, that way you can stack them on top of one another, and the bottom piece can stand up on a smooth surface.

Next, use your drill to make two holes, one on each side of the middle log for the arms of the snowman.

For the hat, you can cut a longer piece of wood for the top section, and a smaller one for the brim.

Last, glue it all together and let it dry for 30 minutes. Then decorate how you see fit, either with a wood burner or with any other materials you can find!

Have Fun Getting Festive!

As mentioned before, the holidays are a great time to tackle some fun DIY projects. If you have an afternoon to yourself, throw on a few of your favorite holiday movies while you craft away. Or get the whole family together and create some lasting memories along with your DIY decor.
