A few weeks ago, we wrapped up a kitchen and powder bath refresh. Today, we’re sharing the before and after, plus all of the details of this space. Yet again, we got to work with the most amazing clients and it was sad to say goodbye once the project was complete!
Let’s rewind to the before of the kitchen…
Before
The kitchen was already very functional for the family in terms of the layout and space, but they wanted to brighten it up and make it more their style. Since the cabinets are beautiful and in really great shape, we recommended keeping them and updating the backsplash, countertops, and adding floating shelves by the window to break up all the brown tones and make the cabinets truly shine.
Inspiration
The overall inspiration for the space was to bring in a navy accent for the island, brighten up the space with light quartz countertops, change out the sink to a farmhouse style, and add in touches of black with the hardware and faucet. Another addition was to add a handmade tile backsplash to give the space a unique look.
And now for the best part…the after!
After
Our clients love their new kitchen, and it feels more open and bright! The cabinets look amazing when paired with the lighter quartz countertops, open shelving, navy island, and light backsplash. Bringing in a pop of color to the island makes a statement and adds a fun element, without taking away from the beautiful wood tones of the perimeter cabinets.
Cambria countertops in the Ironsbridge design lighten up the whole space and provide a great neutral for the rest of the kitchen. This design is one of our favorites for the beautiful, yet subtle, pattern, and warmer undertones.
For the backsplash, we worked with the incredible Mercury Mosaics to create a custom design under the hood that flowed into subway tile for the rest of the backsplash. Making the space behind the hood an accent piece adds a very unique element that catches the eye and stands out. We love how the gray color scheme of the diamond turned hexagon tiles looks clean and modern, while still working well with the color of cabinetry.
Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore was the color choice for the island, and it turned out beautifully. It’s one of our favorite paint colors because it’s subtle, yet makes a statement. Painting the island makes it stand out in the space and bring in a bolder color, without taking away from other elements in the kitchen.
For the sink, we replaced the under-mount sink by cutting out the top portion of the cabinet and adding a farmhouse sink. This single basin Kohler farmhouse sink provides lots of space for cleaning large pots and pans.
Replacing the faucet, drinking water faucet, and hardware to a matte black finish brings a more modern look to the kitchen and ties the space together. This Delta faucet is one of our favorites because of the functionality with a magnetic docking spray and clean, timeless design.
Floating shelves are another of our favorite elements to bring into kitchens. They’re great for storing fun dishes, adding plants, and displaying decor within your space. The clients didn’t need the cabinet next to the sink for storage, so by taking it out and replacing it with floating shelves, the area over the sink feels more open.

Powder Bath
This powder bath is right off the kitchen, and our clients were looking to refresh the room and give it a new look. Since the pedestal sink worked well for the space and extra storage was not needed, we recommended keeping the sink and updating the faucet, mirror, and light.
In addition to switching out the fixtures, Jamie installed shiplap on all four walls to add a modern farmhouse element to the space. The shiplap was painted Snowbound by Sherwin Williams for a light and bright look.
The Delta gold faucet and gold accents in the mirror and light add some sparkle and shine to the room. With powder bathrooms, we always encourage clients to try something different or go for a finish they’ve wanted to try since it’s a smaller space and can be unique and fun.
