6 Ways to Pamper Yourself While Pregnant

Spread the love.

As I’m moving into my last trimester, and like I mentioned in my last baby blog post, Unexpected Emotions of Having Your Last Baby, there are a few things I’m doing differently this time around. And one of which is focusing on self-care and pre-natal care.

Things such as listening to my body, getting massages, taking care of my skin, visiting the chiropractor regularly, and even hired a Doula. All the things I didn’t do with my first two pregnancies but am changing that now.

So today, I want to share with you six ways to pamper yourself while pregnant. Because, gosh darn it, mommas! You are worth it!!

You deserve it, and it’ll make the pregnancy process so much more enjoyable for you, your spouse, kids, family, and everyone you surround yourself with.

Show Your Skin Some Love

Although I’ve always taken good care of my skin, I’ve taken it up a notch during pregnancies. And I have gone above and beyond in the oil department not only on my belly but also on my face, arms, and legs.

I recently discovered Santosha, a safe, non-toxic, and sustainable organic product.

A fun story about this brand and the founder behind it…

Years ago, I was going to this adorable salon and had the same beautiful momma color my hair. She radiated good vibes, and I always left the salon full of energy, inspired, and feeling good both internally and visually. Jobs changed, I moved, the salon closed and so long was the days of going to this same place.

Then last year at The BWC annual forum from across the room, I saw this bright light again! I ran over to hug her, and of course, she was chatting it up with my girlfriend, and here they were already friends.

Then I started asking her what she was up to and learned about her brand and line, and to say I was blown away was an understatement. I couldn’t believe the global impact she was making and couldn’t wait to get my hands on these products. Now, having been using them throughout my pregnancy, I can quite literally see and feel the difference in my skin. And it smells pretty darn good too.

I didn’t use to be much of an oil girl being I have had pretty oily skin. But’s what’s been neat to see is how my skin has become less oily with the more oils I use. And I can tell the difference in softness, fine lines, and wrinkles. Their oil is definitely one of my favorites!

And with a growing baby in your belly and lots of sleepless nights with all of the jabs and kicks, you need to remember to take care of your skin. From stretch marks to bags under the eyes, and these are just a few of the products I love to help tackle these challenges.

Spa Yourself

Fill up the bath, go to the spa, get a massage, and take the time to spa yourself and don’t feel one bit guilty about it!

If you’re like me, you probably find yourself thinking financially and saying, I don’t need to spend my money on that…or I should be doing this or that with my time. Well, I’m shifting that mindset, and I can’t tell you how much more relaxed, re-energized, and free I feel. The other things can always wait; it’s worth every penny.

Taking the time to slow down, relax, and spa myself has also forced me to take time to soak it all in. And although sometimes these days or months can feel never-ending, they always seem to fly by. And knowing it’s my last pregnancy, I’m trying to slow down, be in the moment and soak it all in as much as I can.

Buy the Clothes

What are you waiting for, buy the dang clothes!

I remember with my first, I waited until my third trimester to buy the maternity clothes, and after I did, I was wondering what in the heck I was waiting for. There are so many stylish and comfortable maternity clothes out there, and trust me; it’ll put you in that much better mood when you feel cute and comfortable. This third time around, I pulled out the maternity clothes and swapped out my wardrobe the second I peed on that stick. And throughout the months, anytime I saw something affordable and cute, I bought it. Because, why not?! We should be embracing that bump and looking good in it too.

Go to the Chiropractor

Another thing I never did with Greyson and Beckam was focus on prenatal care like going to the chiropractor. Us mommas work hard, and at construction2style, I’m quite literally physically working hard.

Our bodies are CREATING and GROWING A HUMAN!! When you stop to think about that, it’s pretty insane, right?! Our bodies are working tirelessly around the clock to create this human being. That means they are expanding, moving, and we need some serious adjusting.

I started going to Chiro for Moms, and not only do I get a fantastic adjustment, but she also makes sure I’m mentally and emotionally in check and, best of all, ends it with a 10-minute mini massage.

After leaving their office one day, I almost cried, because they reminded me that as moms, no one really takes care of us. Us mommas are always doing the taking care of. And they want to make sure for that 30 minutes or hour you spend with them – they are quite literally taking care of you. And you feel it too.

P.S. If you do visit them, make sure to mention “construction2style” for 20% off.

Hire a Doula

We hired a doula!! And yes, I’m having a c-section. I’m going to chat more in-depth about this in another blog post, but this has been one of the most eye-opening, rewarding experiences I have had.

I will admit I always assumed a doula was for if you wanted to go the more unmedicated route and boy was I wrong. A doula is there to educate and support, regardless of your birth plan. With the boys, I always thought, well, that is what the doctor is for. And because of my past pregnancy experiences, I’ve come to realize a doctor is there to be your doctor – to keep you safe and deliver a healthy baby.

We hired How 2 Mom, and while I don’t like regrets, I sure do wish we would have known and hired her from baby one.

Treat Yourself

Have your cookie and eat it too! Don’t feel bad or guilty about treating yourself to whatever food that baby of yours is wanting. Be an intuitive eater; treat yourself.

An intuitive eater is defined as a person who “makes food choices without experiencing guilt or an ethical dilemma, honors hunger, respects fullness, and enjoys the pleasure of eating.”

It’s rare to not feel the guilt and judgment due to our culture, but remember you are growing a human! It’s okay to nourish and treat your body while pregnant. So here’s your permission and a friendly reminder to eat the carbs, eat the cookie, and don’t feel bad about it one bit. After all, we only have nine months of this.

So, mommas, I hope you spa yourself, put your feet up, get that massage, and take care of yourself because YOU ARE WORTH IT.

XOXO
