Apple Cider Mimosa | Favorite Fall Cocktail

Spread the love.

A mimosa is a stirred (not shaken) mixed drink.  Some may say that traditional mimosa is simply made up of orange juice and champagne and they won’t be wrong. However, there’s technically more than that in that classic favorite cocktail! A classic mimosa recipe is a blend of Champagne, orange juice and a generous touch of triple sec.

I love that many drinks could be tailored to a season and mimosa is not an exception.

As the weather gets colder and we start craving fall flavors, and apple cider mimosa can come in handy. It’s a great twist on the classic mimosa and it gives you another reason to celebrate the beginning of a new season.

Exactly, garnishes!

A cocktail garnish is an edible decorative item that adds visual appeal and a touch of elegance to any drink! Garnishes complement the drink’s flavor by contrasting with them, tying flavors together, enhancing flavors, or simply complementing them.

The most common cocktail decorations include fruit wedges, berries, edible flowers and fresh herbs!

In our case, that can be an apple wedge!

It has become a trend to have mimosa bars at events like bachelorette parties, bridal showers, birthdays, or other work events and we are here for it! We had a mimosa bar for our black lake influencer reveal party and it was a huge hit!

We have all been those beginner bartenders at our homes and mixed up batches of mimosas! It is easy! You need a good mood, your favorite juice, choice of champagne, cava, sparkling wine or prosseco! Or maybe even some bubbly rose.

To make this fall drink even better, consider heading to one of your local apple orchards and picking up a jug of their fresh apple cider. What’s fun about this recipe is the added touch of the caramel and brown sugar on the rim of your champagne glass to really bring out those fall festive flavors.

Ingredients:

  • Dipping Caramel (16oz)
  • Brown Sugar (1 cup)
  • Cinnamon  (1 tbsp)
  • Apple cider/juice (1 gallon)
  • Prosecco or champagne (750 ml – one bottle)

Directions:

Start by grabbing a small plate and adding 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 tbsp of cinnamon. Mix those thoroughly using a fork or spoon. On a separate plate, add ⅔ cup of the dipping caramel (save the rest of the caramel for the leftover apples – you won’t regret it).

To assemble, dip the rim of your glass into the caramel and then the mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon.

Then, pop open your favorite bottle of prosecco or champagne and fill your glasses to your liking (recommended  ¾ cup). Top it off with apple cider (¼ cup), and if you’re feeling fancy, you can even garnish with an apple slice.

Cheers! Enjoy!

Tips:

This recipe is super easy to double, triple, and can easily make enough for a pitcher for your fall gathering.

If you decide to make a pitcher, don’t add the champagne until right before you’re ready to serve it to make sure the drink remains fizzy.

The easy thing about mimosas is the amount differs depending on your taste preference. You can add more juice versus champagne or the other way around.

If you don’t like the brown sugar and caramel rim, you don’t have to add it. Or if you want to change it up and add cinnamon and sugar instead of brown sugar, you can do that. Make it what you want it to be.

To add an extra touch to the drink, add a dash of caramel syrup into the mimosa. Just enough to complement the caramel on the rim and not to overpower the apple cider.

To switch up the taste, add in an ounce or two of cinnamon apple vodka or Honeycrisp apple vodka

Or to make it non-alcoholic and let the kids have some fun too, switch out the champagne for sparkling apple cider.
