Choosing carpet is hard! Anyone else with us?!
Low or high pile?
Dark or light?
Design or no design?
Then you have to think about maintenance, longevity, allergies, kids, pets, noise, comfort…and after that there are thousands of brands to choose from.
We had been on the carpet hunt for the lower level of our home for what felt like forever. It took us a good 2-3 months to finalize what design, brand and selection we wanted to put in.
But thanks to ProSource, they walked us through the pros and cons of everything anyone had to offer.
In the end, we decided that the Resista Plus H2O collection was the way to go for our home. Once we made that decision, we just had to decide on the design.
The first time I went in to look at what carpet we should put in, I just said, “let’s go with that!” They then encouraged me to take the samples home to really spend a couple of days with them and also to see if the color looked the same in our own home as it did in the showroom. I took them up on their advice and brought these two samples home.
And I’m so glad I did because neither of those styles and colors went with our home and looked totally different in our basement space. You never know what a color or design will look like once you get it home, it could look totally different than in the showroom.
The biggest reason why I was indecisive was that I wasn’t sure if we should go high pile or low pile. Being it is our lower level, we wanted the space to feel warm and cozy, being we snuggle up in this room almost every night, no matter what the season. With a low pile, I was nervous if it would feel too cold. In our last home, we had a high pile with really good padding underneath, and we loved it! But every time we’re in a new home and comment on the carpet, it’s usually a low pile. With crazy, wild kids and high traffic throughout our home, we also kept that in the back of our minds. We were reminded our lifestyle is the same as it was living in our last home.
In the end, we decided to go with Resista Plus H20 Collection in the color Silk.
Before the installation of the new carpet, we removed all of the old carpet from our home. If you’re looking to DIY this part of your project we have a full tutorial for you here.
Our basement recently got water damage after we had put in our LVT (luxury vinyl tile) in the bar area, and although we didn’t need to replace our LVT, we had to replace all of our carpet. But now, that won’t happen again! How cool is that?!
ProSource educated us on that with the Resista Plus H2O; it means that it is waterproof, not just water-resistant. And with most lower levels and basements, water can be a huge issue. With this brand, it provides the same benefits as LVT, which we had recently put into the back bar area of this space.
It was really cool to watch Jesse install our new Resista Plus H2O carpet and also pick his brain! I asked him if he had installed this before, and he had and said that he really appreciates installing this carpet.
Resista Plus H2O also has a “click” profile, meaning it doesn’t require glues or chemicals for installation – so you will be living on your floor right after installation!
Have any of you ever tore up carpet before? And scraped the glue off of the floor for a while? Or better yet, wearing face masks, so you don’t breath in whatever dust is flying around? OR…wondering what all that dust is? It can be a lot of different nasty things, including dead skin particles! And with this new technology that Resista Plus offers, NOTHING gets underneath the carpet…regardless if it’s water, red wine, dust or dead skin cells. It all stays above until it’s cleaned and will not soak through.
And we are done! We are SOOO happy with how this turned out and are so glad we chose what we did. It goes with our wall color and decor perfectly.
More after pictures to come! And I also didn’t edit any of these photos because I wanted them to be true to color for you.
If you are on the hunt for carpet, we highly recommend ProSource for your flooring needs! Mention that “construction2style” sent you and trust me, you’ll be in good hands (and will fill you in on all the deals)!
And now to tackle our upstairs next… as you can see the difference between the old on the top step and the new running down the stairs and how much cleaner, brighter and better it looks!
