If you know me, you know that I absolutely LOVE to host parties. Give me any occasion to get all of my favorite people in the same spot at the same time… I’ll be there.
Friendsgiving, Galentine’s Day – or even a holiday potluck – the most requested item of all, is my Buffalo Chicken Dip.
I can’t remember the first gathering that I decided to bring Buffalo Chicken Dip too, but I would say I typically bring it to the majority of potluck-style events now. It’s either that, the smoked queso recipe, my Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookie recipe, or Corn Dip.
At my bridal shower, one of the games had a question that read “What is the one recipe that is Kayla’s “most shared”?”. The room was split 50/50 between this buffalo chicken dip & the cookies, which was a shock to me – especially when people find out how easy this dip is to make!
Looks like I’ll have to be sharing the cookie recipe with you soon, too.
And with the Super Bowl right around the corner, I figured it was time to share this simple dip for you to add to your spread this weekend.
Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe
Gather Ingredients
Your shopping list for this buffalo chicken dip is pretty simple. All items that you can pretty much find at any large grocery store.
- 1 cup Frank’s Buffalo Hot Sauce
- 1 cup Hidden Valley Ranch (or if you’re feeling fancy, try using homemade ranch)
- 1 bag of Colby Jack Shredded Cheese (2 cups)
- 2, 8oz Blocks of Cream Cheese
- 2 Cans of Chicken
- Celery or Carrot Sticks (for serving)
- Tortilla Chips (for serving)
Also want to make sure you have your Crockpot or Instapot handy and ready for the slow cooking. If you’re in need for one – this cute, new green crockpot is aesthetic and functional for any warm dip/meal needs.
Step 1: Add the cream cheese
I like to put the blocks of the cream cheese on the bottom of the crockpot as it’s the ingredient that needs the most heat to melt. Place your two blocks into the crockpot.
Step 2: Sprinkle in the shredded cheese
Next, sprinkle that bag of shredded cheese over the blocks of cream cheese. That way, when the cheeses all melt, they are easily mixed together.
Step 3: Shred the chicken & add it in
Canned chicken may seem “gross” to some, but it’s the quickest and easiest way to get this dip moving along! When mixed with the right flavors, you can’t even tell that it comes from a can.
You can also trade out the canned chicken for fresh, shredded, or rotisserie-style chicken. Shred those two cans of chicken up, and drop it into the crockpot.
Step 4: Sauce it up
Next up, is the main event. You’ll want to add in 1 cup of ranch dressing, and 1 cup of Frank’s Buffalo Hot Sauce. If you like it a little spicier, you can adjust your sauce levels accordingly (less ranch, more hot).
Step 5: Let it simmer
The waiting game begins! Turn your crockpot on the “high” setting, cover it, and cook for 1-2 hours, depending on how hot your crockpot gets.
Mine is usually done within the hour (cooks hot) but sometimes it can take a little bit longer. Stir occasionally to ensure all the ingredients are mixed together.
Step 6: Serve + enjoy!
Once all the ingredients are melted together, the buffalo chicken dip is ready to go. My favorite thing to serve with this – celery sticks!
But, tortilla chips are just as good. Either way, this dip is sure to be a hit at your next get-together.

Notes
To add more spice, lessen the ranch amount and add more buffalo sauce. All together, you'll want about 2 cups of liquid ingredients.
You can also do this recipe with fresh shredded chicken breast or shredded rotisserie chicken from the grocery store.
I always serve with a veggie option & chip option. This is a great Keto diet app!
