Nursery Storage Tips That’ll Save Your Sanity (Especially for Baby #2)

Spread the love.

Bringing home a second baby is a whole new experience — there’s excitement, chaos, and an endless amount of stuff to manage, especially when it comes to nursery storage.

Since this is our second baby girl, we’re lucky to be reusing a lot of hand-me-downs from our first, Sutton — but with that also comes the need to get extra organized. I knew I didn’t want to be digging through bins at 3 AM trying to find the right size swaddle. So we teamed up with the local pros at Neat Method to get our nursery storage system in shape before baby girl arrives.

Here are the top tips and techniques we learned to keep things functional, beautiful, and stress-reducing:

Nursery Storage: Group Pajamas & Sleep Essentials Together

We used to toss pajamas, sleep sacks and swaddles on opposite ends of the dresser but Neat Method showed us how much easier life gets when you store them together. Now, everything we need for bedtime (or a midnight change) is right there in one spot. It’s all about reducing the back-and-forth — especially when you’re half-asleep.

Create an Easy-Grab Caddy on Top of the Changing Table

This one is a game-changer. We set up a small storage caddy on the changing table with overnight feeding must-haves: pacifiers, burp cloths, extra diapers, diaper cream, nipple balm, formula samples, whatever your setup may be.

That way, everything’s within reach when you’re handling feeds, changes, and keeping your eyes open at the same time. This Perforated Bin in bone from Neat Method is perfect for this. It is breathable, beautiful, and functional. They suggested putting a few of their Canisters inside the bin as well for an even more in depth organization station.

Roll, Don’t Fold (Especially the Onesies & Outfit Sets)

Folding baby clothes is basically like folding doll clothes: tiny, annoying, and they come undone easily. Instead, we started rolling onesies and rolling outfits together in sets. It takes up less space and makes it easier to grab and go.

But if you’re more of a hanger person (especially for cute sets or special outfits), here’s a little hack we learned and love: use window curtain clips to hang sets together on one hanger. Genius, right? It keeps the top + bottom matched, saves time, and looks super tidy in the closet.

We also labeled each drawer so we know exactly what lives where. e.g. pajamas, bodysuits, burp cloths, etc. No more digging.

Size-Up Bins for the Win

Babies grow so fast, it feels like they’re doing it just to keep you on your toes. To stay organized, we’ve set up labeled nursery storage bins by size (“18-24 months,” “12-18 months,” etc.). When it’s time to size up, we don’t have to dig through the attic or basement. These bins are kept in the closet and are super easy to access—essential when your newborn outgrows everything overnight. We opted for Neat Method’s Oxford Bin in stone, a perfect mix of timeless style and functionality for nursery storage.

Keep a Donate Bin Handy

As we sort through baby clothes, it’s second nature to ask: “Are we actually going to use this again?” If not, we toss it in a designated donate bin or organize it neatly in our nursery storage. That way, things don’t pile up, and we’re only keeping the pieces we actually love or need.

Label Everything (Your Future Self Will Thank You)

We’re talking drawer labels, bin labels, closet dividers, label all of it. You think you’ll remember where you put the backup pacifiers, but in week 3 of newborn life, you won’t. Trust me. Labels equals sanity. The pairing of Neat Method’s Label Holder Sets in Bone and the Oxford Bins in Stone leaves a dainty touch on a little girl’s nursery space.

Whether it’s your first or fifth baby, the baby stage comes with a lot of gear. While the chaos may be inevitable, having a system—like smart nursery storage—can make everything feel so much more manageable.
