Last fall, we landed our eyes on this gorgeous semi-flush mount lighting for our living room and fell in love. One of the things we had to go when undergoing our living room remodel was the fan. The only time this fan got used was to play games with our kids and have Mickey Mouse and “Ratty” fly from the sky.
So we said goodbye to the fanlight and hello to the gorgeous, Fleming, an eight-light semi-flush fixture in aged brass.
We were on the hunt for something different, a statement piece, yet also wanted it to flow with the overall design in the space. With the ceilings only 8′ high, we had to be cautious about the size to make sure that it didn’t overpower the space. When we came across the Fleming, we knew it was perfect! We especially loved the oblate spheroid shapes of the bulbs and how the light illuminated in all sorts of directions. Since we’re putting a coffee table under the light fixture, we knew it would work out just fine with the 8′ ceilings and the 14.5″ height of the fixture itself. We made sure we won’t have to worry about anyone hitting their head on it.

In the bathroom project below, we swapped out the boob light from this…
