Designing for a Modern New Home Build

Spread the love.

Ohhh we are SO excited to share this new project with you guys! We are in the process of designing out a full new home custom build. Our clients are building a brand new home with Christian Builders and it’s going to be incredible. They’re going with a white exterior, black windows, lots of patterns and textures, light wood and gold accents…pretty much our dream design client!

This client was actually the first client who took a chance on construction2style, after following our blog, and asked us if we’d finish their basement back in 2013. That was the first project we ever completed that launched the portion of our home remodeling business.

Even though we started as a remodeling company, we have recently added design services after hiring Jordan, our full-time interior designer. If you want to refresh your home or are looking for some help in design and selections for a remodel or new build, check out all of our design services HERE.

Alongside our clients, Jordan and I have been hard at work designing this space over the past few months, so today we wanted to rewind back to the beginning and bring you guys up to speed on what we’ve been working on.

First, Jordan is going to share with you guys how we got started and the first step of what’s it’s like working with us on your designs.

Take it away Jordan…

Hey everyone, so excited to share this amazing design project with you! Here’s our process with the designs so far. Before we started sourcing all the selections, we got inspired from our client’s Pinterest board. We found images that played off elements the clients are looking for in their home. After creating mood boards, we had a meeting where we shared the boards with them and learned what they loved/hated. Then we started sourcing specific selections, like tile, paint colors, fixtures, and lighting and made boards to show they would flow together.

Today, we’re sharing those mood boards and selections and walking you through each room and what the vision is for each of them!

Guest Bath:

In this room, our clients were looking for a more dramatic feel with the black shiplap, patterned tile, and gold fixtures. The black shiplap has a masculine vibe, while the gold adds in a little shine and bit of sparkle.

Powder Bath:

Ahh this powder bath is one of our favorites! Many people are wanting to incorporate wallpaper into their homes and the powder bath is the perfect place to do that. It makes a statement, without being too overwhelming or bold. This wallpaper from Anthropologie is a great mix of fun and classic.

Master Bath

The master bath inspiration was a lot of luxe black and white bathrooms that had spa-like feels. In the shower, our clients are choosing to install a black silk looking porcelain tile along the back wall with the shower fixtures. It will be accented with a black hex shower floor and small white hex niche. The floor is a porcelain, marble-inspired, matte tile that looks amazing, yet is still durable and easy to maintain.

Foyer + Living Room + Mudroom

The plans for this home is an open concept so the foyer, living room, and mudroom will need to be able to flow together. A large rug will welcome the family and guests into the home, making the space feel inviting and welcoming. Black and gold lighting fixtures add modern flair, while reclaimed beams will bring in a farmhouse feel.

Kitchen:

For the kitchen, our client was looking for a bright and white space with bold accents in the black faucet and potfiller, custom backsplash, and black lighting. A large island and being open to the living room makes this a perfect space for the family to gather and hang out.

Jack & Jill Bath

This Jack and Jill bath has a classic design and will be able to grow with the kids. The handmade subway tile is a great option for a shower where you want to make a statement, but not break the bank. The gold mirror ties into the black and gold light fixture, making a statement on the vanity wall.
