Hello, again. If you remember my first post, you’d know that I bought quite the fixer-upper in St. Paul that needs basically a whole home remodel. I’m happy to report that every single project has gone off without a hitch, and there have been absolutely no issues or setbacks!…..KIDDING, what have I done?!
Below is an update on what has gone well, bad, and..really bad.
The Good
We finished the main level bathroom.
This required a full gut to remove old wall tile, ugly old tile floor, tub, and vanity. We sheetrocked the whole bathroom and added a new tub, new tile surround in the shower, black tile floor, vanity, and light fixtures. Here’s a little before and after:
We also got a good amount of work done upstairs, mainly getting everything gutted, including old wood paneling, carpet, and old ceiling tile.

The Bad
Would it really be a fixer-upper project if the water heater and furnace immediately went out? I think not! Here are a few pictures of our lovely new units:
The Ugly
The roof has turned out to be in rough enough shape for insurance not to want to touch it, and it also lets in enough moisture to ruin our mudding and taping work on the ceiling upstairs. We won’t be able to finish the ceiling upstairs until we replace the roof.
Next Projects
Our next highest priority is the roof since we can’t do much as far as mudding and taping upstairs until it’s replaced after that is the upstairs bathroom, kitchen, floors, and paint!
We’re slowly but surely making progress over here. Next up are fixtures throughout the house. I’ll be sure to hop back on here and show you the progress when we get all that complete.
