Wallpaper makes such a great addition to any space, big or small. It’s a key trend for 2021.
It can truly make a space! It can make a space easier to design because it gives you a starting point, design, colors, and/or patterns to work with.
The latest 2021 wallpaper trends are a mixture of murals, 3D texture, contemporary geometrics, and natural materials. In some current and past projects, we have used wallpaper, and we LOVE it and are so glad that it’s making a splash in 2021.
Here are some of our favorite wallpapers for 2021, as well as stores that we love to shop for our wallpaper.
Floral
2021 is a big year for large murals with floral or other statement patterns in wallpaper. Usually, what would be seen as too much, is now just enough!
This is why the Rabarber wallpaper from Anthropologie is one of our current favorites and one we’re specing for one of our projects! Everyone is spending more time at home now and we want our homes to not only be a place of comfort and relaxation, but also one of joy.
We have used Rebel Walls wallpaper in many of our projects, like the DeRusha Lower Level Guest Bathroom. In their guest bathroom, we used the Eden Nightfall wallpaper behind their vanity.
It was the perfect choice to complement the amazing tile that Mercury Mosaics designed for them. This wallpaper included nature and flowers while the background is a dark, contrasting blue-green color, similar to the tile.
Rebel Walls is another great place to find fun wallpaper. Alice’s Garden wallpaper is one that we are using in our design for Mercury Mosaic’s new office space!
This floral wallpaper looks like a mural was painted directly on a wall. This wallpaper would look great in a living room or an office.
We’re using Alice’s Garden wallpaper in Mercury Mosaic’s wellness room. This wallpaper will definitely bring some life and wellness into that space!
You can’t go wrong with a classic flower mural wall, which is why Chloe by Murals Wallpaper caught our eye. Its classic colors and design bring a feminine touch to any space, but the contrasting colors add a vintage yet sophisticated feel to the space.
The Blushing Peonies by West Elm is a more understated and feminine version of the Chloe wallpaper. The Peonies are the main focus of the design and the neutral and pink colors give it that feminine touch. We love this one!
The Bunaken Wallpaper from York Wallcoverings gives off a beachy and bohemian vibe. Perfect for a sunroom, or for any room in a lake house. It’ll bring summer to your space all year round.
Nature
Exactly as the name portrays, the Serenity wallpaper screams serene and calm. This time from another favorite store, Arhaus.
The teal color palette, with the floral pattern mixed in with owls, makes for an eclectic style, as well as an earthy feel. Great for a natural space, such as a bathroom, or mudroom, or even a child’s bedroom.
Murals have been and I think will always be a statement when it comes to wallpaper. We did Bellewood in Beckam’s nursery and now that he has transitioned out and Ellie has transitioned in, we still love it so much it’s staying.
Another great real-life mural is Forest by Rebel Walls. This is what we have in the boys’ rooms and it almost feels like they’re playing in nature every day.
The boys wanted a motocross theme and while I didn’t want dirtbikes all over their walls, I found this print that almost looked like a dirt bike trail in the woods and the boys were all for it.
Daydream from Hygge and West is another fun and bright mural type wallpaper. This is the perfect addition to a nursery or even in a mudroom.
Since 2021 is the year for bold patterns, the Flowering Desert Black Wallpaper is the perfect wallpaper to add to a space to bring in bright patterns and joy into any space.
Pattern
Anthropologie is one of our absolute favorites as well as our go-to when it comes to wallpaper selections. In a current project, the Jensen Project, we have given several selections for wallpaper throughout the home.
The Bali Grasscloth Textured Wallpaper was selected to be the accent wallpaper in this home’s bar area. It adds just a little bit of texture and color to the space for a little “pop” of color and style. It makes any space feel so much brighter with its honey color.
The Trademark Mural Wallpaper is another Anthropologie find. This wallpaper was also a final selection for the Jensen project.
This specific wallpaper is going into the Jensen office. With the black and white colors, it adds a modern touch to the space.
The pattern and design of the wallpaper also add a feminine touch without it being too feminine. This is a definite favorite!
Yet another Anthropologie pick for a client’s home. This lovely navy wallpaper has a white flower pattern.
The Rigby Wallpaper is being used at our Heritage Valley Home project in the powder bathroom. Wallpaper is always fun in a powder bathroom because it is usually a smaller space and adding wallpaper adds so much to any space!
In the Lorien Home Kid’s Bathroom Remodel, the Mare Wave Wallpaper is the focal point of the room. From Anthropologie, this fun patterned wallpaper brings in some kid-friendly feels.
It’s not just for a kid’s space though, this wallpaper would look great in any room or space, such as the accent wall in a mudroom, office, or even for a bar.
This Spring and Heron wallpaper from York Wallcoverings is the perfect addition to bring in a bright and fun feel into your home.
The Morrocan wallpaper mural by Sarah Sherman Samuel is a great neutral wallpaper for those who don’t like loud patterns and bright colors. It’s also on the modern side and more muted.
The Feather Wallpaper from Serena & Lily is another C2S fave. We are using this wallpaper in one of our design projects, the Seattle Sunset Hill Home. It’s going in the girls’ bathroom and we think it’ll fit the space perfectly.
