YA! YA! Today we’re chatting about our staircase remodel. Our staircase was the first thing that people saw when they entered our Otsego home, so we wanted to create a little wow factor.
The original staircase had wrought iron and maroon carpet. The handrail wasn’t up to code and we knew the maroon carpet had to go. In the beginning, we went back and forth about whether to have carpet down the middle of the new wood treads and if we wanted all white or all dark stained. There are so many fun design options out there it’s hard to choose just one. Click HERE to go back and check out the before look and our design inspiration when we first bought the home, along with how we came up with what we did. But, in the end, we decided to go with dark wood treads to tie into the dark woodwork throughout the home and incorporated white rails to brighten it up a bit.
The hardest thing we had to tackle was the curved handrail, which was no easy task. Once we got it down, we put together a little tutorial for you guys that you can read HERE.
So here it is, the after of our staircase remodel in the Otsego home we just sold.
And I mean…can this chandelier get any more gorgeous?! I’m a fan of gorgeous lighting over your stairwell, and we were so lucky that the former homeowners left this beauty for us! I have looked high and low and haven’t been able to find one like it. Hope the new homeowners enjoy it as much as we did.
A huge thank you to Kirsten Solberg and Chelsie Lopez for the amazing photos!
