Last fall, we got to work with amazing clients on their basement built-ins, and it was such a fun project! When they asked us to help source furniture and style their guest bedroom, we were pumped. Their basement gets lots of natural light and is a space where they love to hang out and also where they wanted to create a room for guests to stay when visiting.
Here was the space before…

Furniture + Decor Selections
The inspiration for this space was some rustic elements, blue tones that also tied into the decor we used to style their built-ins, and warm and cozy textures. These selections remind us of a warm, Scandinavian style and we love how inviting all of the pieces feel when paired together. A soft, tufted gray headboard pairs well with the more rustic dresser and nightstand, while a faux fur throw accents the velvet chair and textured pillows.
And now for the fun part..the after!
After
The blue window treatments are perfect for privacy and darkness at night, while lighter sheers work well for letting in natural light during the day. Adding a chair to a guest room is a great way to provide a spot for guests to relax at night, a spot to put on their shoes in the morning, or cozy up with a book. Throws and pillows make the chair inviting and allow your guests to be comfy and warm.
When staying in a guest room, it’s always nice to have a spot for your phone or keys at the end of the night, so we love this rustic nightstand by the bed. Having a lamp by the bed is also a great addition for reading a book in bed and creating softer light once the sun goes down. To the side of the nightstand, we used some books as a stand for the plant to make it a little taller and stand out. Bringing in touches of greenery is a great way to add life and natural elements to a room.
We love these three abstract watercolor paintings above the bed. Adding artwork to a room gives it a feeling of being complete. These pieces compliment the gray and white colors and leather texture on the bed, while the wood frames tie into the wood nightstand and dresser.
And that’s a wrap! We love this beautiful bedroom that’s ready to host family and friends.
