We are so excited to share the reveal of the Lake George Modern Home design project with you! This has been months in the making as the first inquiry from our clients came back in January of this year.
At the time they didn’t live in the home and were currently renting it out. They resided out of state but were ready to move back to Minnesota and officially back into their home, which is on the beautiful Lake George in Oak Grove, MN. And just so happens, right across the lake and down the road is where Jamie’s parents live, so it’s a favorite lake of ours to take our family and the boys.
Our clients wanted to give the entire main level a facelift and truly make this home their own! And we were so honored when they chose us to help do just that. We quickly got to work on the design plans, you can check out the full design blog post we shared back in April here, and once the plans were finalized they moved into construction with Barefoot Construction, who did an incredible job! Our clients and our former designer Jordan, who worked alongside them, had nothing but good things to say about them.
And now that it’s officially wrapped up and our clients are enjoying there new home, let’s dive into the details behind the designs that went into the kitchen, bathroom, living room, bar, laundry and entryway.
The main level consisted of the entry, kitchen, laundry room, bathroom, bedroom, and living room. The biggest thing with the kitchen was to make it feel a bit more open with room to roam. They also wanted to explore to see if they could have access to walk out to the lakeside from this area.
So the first thing we knew that needed to happen was for this wall that separated and closed off the kitchen to come down.
The window with the sink under was already located in a great place, as it overlooked the lake, so we knew that we wouldn’t need to really make a huge layout transition to the space.
And this window, we knew would make for a great patio walkout space.
Our clients wanted to renovate it with the intent to also Airbnb it over the beautiful summer months, so they wanted to bring in as many fun lake vibes as they could. Make it a statement and a mini vacation destination out away from the city. Blue cabinets was one thing high on their list! And we absolutely loved how they turned out.
New cabinetry, lighting, statement tile, hardware, countertops, faucets and fixtures and appliances! All brand new and we think it pulled in all of the beach and lake vibes.

The living room was another fun area to design out! They wanted the fireplace/tv wall all revamped as well as creating some sort of bar area within the space. And again, being the lake is visible from this room they wanted the windows and doors to make a statement and lead you out into the lakeside yard.

The bathroom was for sure one of our favorite transformations in the home. One of the things this bathroom was lacking was a shower. It only had a bathtub and enough storage for one very large family. Something that we didn’t see was necessary and that was a better use of space to expand the shower and create more room for moving around.
The window was closed off and all new tile, vanity, flooring, sink, faucet, lighting, paint, shower doors, millwork and all!
What do you guys think?! Would you be bold enough to go with such a fun and colorful statement tile? I think it was perfect for this modern lake home!
