We spent the weekend finally getting our dining room put back together again. We’ve literally had this big space empty since we completed our remodel back in March. I can hardly believe that was already seven months ago.
While we were remodeling our kitchen, we also converted our living room into our dining room and our dining room into our music room. Doing that just meant tearing out the carpet and putting down hardwood floors. We also closed off the music room from the kitchen.
This was before we went under construction…
I don’t think the boys are too happy now that we have furniture in here though, because this was their big, empty space to ride their bikes in circles around, but it already feels so much cozier. Finally, it feels like our own home since we bought it.
Today we wanted to share some of the pieces we picked out for the space with you guys that we’re loving on!
Table
We got this table for under $600 and originally, I wanted Jamie to build one large, massive table, but when it came time to sourcing material, we were looking at $1,500 minimum. Instead, we thought we’d buy this one until we saved up to make our dream table.
Chairs
These chairs we got from Bellacor after we finished the construction of our kitchen. At first, we actually borrowed them for our blogger brunch and then have used them so much for different events, so we decided to kept them. However, I really want a long bench later down the road.
We also got the planter baskets from Bellacor. Sometimes pots are so hard to find and I love that you can throw your plants in a basket and it doesn’t always have to be a pot.
Curtains
The first thing we bought for the space were these curtains. I’m trying to go for a boho-chic look in our home. Everyone always asks me what our style is and I literally have no clue. I usually tell them it’s eclectic, which to me means that nothing matches and it’s a variety of different styles. I also like a lot of color. We always keep a budget in mind so hence why it’s probably taken us seven months to finish this space off.
When I saw these curtains at Anthropology for under $130, I was sold. I loved the black and white color, that it had a boho feel, and that it had poms-poms! So fun.
Couch
The number one thing I knew I wanted was a green velvet couch for our music room. I had my eye on a couple of different ones, but kept going back to this one we bought from Cost Plus World Market.
We also bought this table for what we thought would be the music room, but it was way too big. Even though it wasn’t right for this space, it worked out because we moved it into the basement, which was in need of a coffee table. It was so cute and we couldn’t pass up the steal!
Rugs
Rugs are so darn hard! They’re so expensive, so I knew that was going to be the biggest and most important investment we had to choose because I didn’t want to get sick of it anytime soon. I also knew I wanted it colorful, but not too colorful. It was all just depending on the price. I had been searching high and low for rugs, but when I was sold on one, they didn’t have the right size we needed. When I came across the Floressa Loom from All Modern, I was sold, especially for the price! $239.99 for an 8×10 is unreal. What I love about it too is that it has almost every color- blue, green, yellow, pink, orange, purple – so I knew that it would go with anything else we brought into the space.
Then while my girlfriend and I were picking up the green couch at World Market, we came across this simple faux cowhide. I knew I wanted a rug in the piano room, but also didn’t want it to compete with everything else we had going on.
Lighting
We stumbled upon these Spartansburg 1-Light Barn Lights and decided to give them a shot during our kitchen renovation. Surprisingly, they’ve become a favorite feature! I was a bit worried they might give off an outdoor vibe, but they fit right in. Their simple yet charming glow against our black shiplap walls is just what we needed. And now with our green velvet and gold couch, they tie the whole room together. What’s even better? They are under $50, proving that style doesn’t have to break the bank.
And this chandelier we used in one of our client’s homes last year and fell in love. Vintage 5 Light Pendant
Everything else we have in the space is all antiques that we’ve collected throughout the years from different flea markets and stores. There are still a few more small items I’d love to buy to finish off the space, but for now, Jamie said we are done. Ha! Can’t wait to share with you guys the final reveal of the entire space soon. For now, we were too excited from our weekend not to share our steals with you.
