Waking up on our ten year and one day wedding anniversary. Sipping on my coffee, writing, with new views.
Main street, Stillwater staycation. Feels nice. I can see the St. Croix River from this patio view. I could get used to this.
Today we close on the sale of our c2s office. We bought this building last December.
It feels bittersweet and also fitting that we say goodbye to our c2s office on this specific day. It was not intentionally planned, but we are stepping into a new chapter of our lives and moving into the next decade of our marriage.
Jamie and I spent some time yesterday on our ten year anniversary dream-planning, strategizing, and writing down the goals we want to achieve within the next ten years of our life. Our marriage, our family, the way we’re raising our babies, what we want to instill in them, goals for the wants we want in life and what it’ll take to achieve those through the financial support of construction2style, resilience2reform, Contractor Coalition Summit, and Neon Lion.
And then we high-level goal planned within those operations of what the needs would be. It’s exciting stuff!
The only thing we both wanted to do for our anniversary. Are we nerds or what?! It feels really good waking up with our new intentions for the day, as we embark on this next chapter of life!
If you saw our live on Instagram a few weeks back, you may have been wondering if we were selling our business. HA! Gotta love lives, no going back on what you say.
But NO, we are not selling our business. We are simply selling the last c2s office building. Today we close on a past chapter and head into a new.
This is bittersweet because buying a building for our crew to have a c2s office was a HUGE GOAL of ours. And I often have to remind myself that it’s okay, this place just isn’t going to be it. Not here, not right now.
When we purchased our new c2s office last year, we slowly started remodeling it, in between client jobs. So it was a slow start.
Then, a few things transpired this spring, and it was a reminder that although we have these big-picture dreams and goals – we still want to maintain a simple life filled with joy. And we can have both. Although what we recently have gone through was a message not to slow down necessarily, but to get rid of the noise.
The chaos in life: whether that comes with people, places, or things, the unnecessary, the time suck, lack of financial gains, or even simply negative and mental energy. And we’re doing just that with all the things in life!
We are getting minimal, lean, and clean in our personal and professional lives. And owning our own commercial space is one thing that we can give up right now.
One thing that wasn’t fully necessary as much as we wanted it. Our team has downsized since we bought the building for c2s office, but the needs aren’t there to replace those roles.
Our current team is all over the metro on job sites or in meetings. If needed, we all work efficiently from our c2s home office. And we have the right tools, like Monday or Slack, to work remotely with one another.
We would have loved to stay and grow from here; however, it isn’t a must-have right now. But when the time is right, we’ll cross that bridge.
So here we are, utilizing our home offices! And I have to say, I’m not mad about it. Do I want that in-person sense of camaraderie at times? Heck, yes. One day, we’ll be back for that in a new environment. Perhaps, in the next chapter in life.
While dreaming together yesterday, Jamie said, “I’m really looking forward to this winter.” When I asked him why?
He went on to say that he’s excited to hunker down and hibernate. Dream and work together privately at home and not have a lot of plans. It was also a great reminder about what we’ve created in our home and that we love spending time there. It’s a place that lights our creativity and drive!
The team will soon be sharing their own home offices, but here’s what ours looks like at my hidden oasis. We work at a few spaces in our home, but this landing is our dedicated workspace.
What I love about it is that it’s not locked into a small room, and I don’t have to feel claustrophobic; it’s freeing, light, bright, and creatively inspiring with our c2s brand colors blasted all over the walls.
The downside is that it is very open, and there is too much echo when it comes to Zoom calls or podcasts. I also can’t sit long in one space. IYKYK. I’m a two-hours-here, then two-hours-there kind of girl. So I move around within our home, but I have my specific areas.
Let’s talk office furniture! Have you guys heard of Teknion? If not, you should look them up!
What I love about it is that it is so versatile. While they mainly cater to corporate and office settings, their products can also be used in your home.
The blue bucket chairs get moved around a lot in our home. They are currently residing on our poolside patio deck, where I also work at times while the kids swim.
They are so generous at Teknion, they wanted to give all of our c2s blog readers 25% off! Use code “CONST2STYLE” and shop at the Teknion Store.
This chair is my jam! The Nuova Contessa All-Mesh Task Chair. Comfort at its finest! Nuova Contessa Synchro-Tilt Task Chair, All Mesh, Iron Mesh Finish, Ebony Frame & Base Finish. (Remember 25% off using code “CONST2STYLE”).
Nuova Contessa, a modern classic, is Teknion’s most popular and iconic work chair. Enhanced and relaunched in 2017, it offers a refined aesthetic, advanced adjustment mechanisms, and increased strength and durability.
We know we all need efficiency and comfort when it comes to office chairs, and these ones, designed by Giugiaro Design, have ergonomic comfort and performance for diverse body types.
We always move this baby to our dining room table, where Jamie works from his computer almost daily.
You can easily adjust the height of your chair by just grabbing underneath the armrest and pumping this little button right there, and you quickly go up or down.
It’s great for when rolling our chairs around to different tables within the home.
My other working area, where I take my Zoom calls or podcast interviews, is in our lower level. We added in the Sicla Chairs here, in blue sage. And this blue is on point! A pop of color, yet subtle.
Sicla is a modern “basket” chair with a lightweight shell, curved along the edges to obtain strength and stability. The innovative design incorporates a rib that leads around the back of the chair and along the armrests.
4-leg features a classic base that is versatile for various room environments. Keep it at your dining table, then use it in your office, exactly what we’ve been doing by moving these chairs around our home.
You can find all the specifications and additional colors here. Don’t forget to use code “CONST2STYLE” for 25% off.
- Upholstered seat and unibody back are mechanically fastened

Even our boys love to live in these chairs and I have a feeling with school starting next week, this is exactly where they’ll want to be when I’m not.
So here we are, onto the next c2s chapter in life! Cheers to this new season for all of you too. It WILL be a good one.
